What We Believe

  1. All people of all ages are sinners separated from God and in need of God’s grace and forgiveness.
  2. God’s Holy Word reveals the full and reliable truth about us and about God.
  3. God’s plan for our salvation was to send Jesus, true God and true man, into the world to live among us, to keep God’s Law perfectly and to save us through His death and resurrection.
  4. In Christ God has overcome the great enemies of humanity – sin, death, and the power of the devil.
  5. God’s plan for our salvation reveals the great love God has for each and every person regardless of race, nationality, age, gender, educational level, social standing, or any other feature.
  6. Scripture shows us that the only God is triune – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  7. We receive the great blessings of forgiveness, eternal life, and other spiritual fruits including hope and love not by our deeds or intentions but only by faith in Jesus.
  8. This faith is itself worked in us by the Holy Spirit and is not the product of any personal decision or mental act.
  9. Faith is an ultimate commitment to Jesus in which we are also changed to reflect the love God shows to us.
  10. Though we are changed through faith, we are also still sinners who need daily the grace God offers to us freely.
  11. In repentance we bring before God our sin trusting in His forgiveness; in absolution we are assured of that great blessing.
  12. God adopts us into His family through baptism. Because the action in baptism is God’s – not ours – God can and does adopt people of any age including infants.
  13. God nourishes His children through His Word and through Holy Communion, in which we receive Jesus’ true body and blood with the bread and wine.
  14. God has established His Church to enable people to grow spiritually through His Word and the Sacraments (baptism and holy communion) and to reach out to others with His saving grace.
  15. In worship and bible study the Holy Spirit nourishes our faith and grows us spiritually.
  16. As Christians we reach out to one another and to people outside the church in love addressing their needs, spiritual and earthly, as God guides us.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.    Ephesians 2:8-9
